November 30, 2001, Newsletter Issue #21: Now`s the Time to Winterize!

Tip of the Week

When winter is coming we all think about making sure our carŽs coolant system is in top shape. Other operating parts of the car need protection also.
Hood hinges, door/trunk latches and rubber door/trunk weather seals need care, too!

If you take a 1/2 inch stiff brush and apply petroleum jelly to the joints of hood hinges, door and trunk latch strikers and receptors youŽll avoid freezing of these mechanisms and therefore will make it almost effortless to open and operate in extreme cold weather. Also rubbing plain old cooking oil on rubber weatherstrips and contact bumpers(doors and trunk) will keep doors and trunk lids from sticking in cold weather.
